Alumni Updates
An update on several of our graduates:
Claire Winters (1992) is an eminent actress on stage and screen, working in both New York and Los Angeles. Claire played the role of Young Cindy (Kate Burton) in the Golden Globe Award-winning HBO miniseries Empire Falls. Other film and television credits include leading roles in the award-winning independent features Slings and Arrows and Filmic Achievement.
Jimmy Chang (1993) was promoted to Academic Chairman of the Mathematics Department at St. Petersburg College. Jimmy also got married this past fall and continues his work in local theater.
Jimmy Thoms (1997) earned his Master's degree in History from USF and is working for a testing company in Tampa.
Daniel Carvin (1998) married while teaching elementary school in Japan, but is now back teaching stateside.
Chaz Preston (1999) is at the University of Chicago where he is pursuing a PhD in History of Religions. He is the Senior Editorial Assistant for the journal History of Religion and has an essay appearing in a book being published by Oxford University Press.
Brian Dudley (1999) completed his Masters degree and is finishing his PhD at Case Western Reserve in the Department of Genetics. He was the lead author on a paper his lab published on organ culture.
Chris Thoms (1999) earned his BS in Physics with a minor in Math (USF) and is working with a local engineering firm while pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Melissa Ratcliff (2000) graduated from Law School at Boston University and was married in New Orleans, June 2007.
Amanda Leaders (2001) graduated with honors from USF with a BA in English and minors in Anthropology and the Classics. She presently manages a business in Pinellas Park.
Sally Moore (2001) has a Masters degree in Family, Youth and Community Sciences and is now a fellow in the PhD program in School Psychology at the University of Florida, with a specialization in Early Childhood.
Lee Hildebrand (2001) graduated from USF with a Master19s degree in Management. He has moved to Nashville to run www.biosketch.net.
Jennifer Field (2001) graduated from USF with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications in 2006. She is working in the research department at JP Morgan/Chase and plans to pursue a Masters degree in Business.
Becky Preston (2002) graduated in 2008 from National-Louis University, with a BA in Psychology and Early Childhood Education. She is teaching preschool in the Chicago area.
Kathy Thoms (2003) is working on her Masters in Art & Teaching and carries a 4.0 GPA. She plans to travel to Europe next summer.
Katherine Field (2003) graduated as a Monroe Scholar in Mathematics at William & Mary, recently received her Master19s degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Math) and is continuing in their PhD program, studying Combinatorics. A previous recipient of a Jack Kent Cooke scholarship and a NSA Internship for Exceptional Math Students, Katie will be getting married this June.
Sarah Grimme (2003) graduated with a BA from New College and is in her second year at Stetson Law School.
Spencer Moore (2004) will be commissioned as an Army officer upon graduation at the University of Florida with his Bachelors Degree in Political Science. His interest is a career in military intelligence.
Katie Cox (2005) graduated cum laude this May with a BS in Finance. She plans to pursue an MBA this fall at Virginia Tech or the University of Pittsburgh.
Tim Yeatman (2005) is majoring in Computer Engineering at USF. During the summers, Tim works at the Moffit Cancer Center computer lab in Bioinframatics.
Sun Thongsuriyapong (2005) is completing his work at the University of Florida, majoring in Engineering.
Erin Derrick (2006), the recipient of a National Merit Scholarship, is completing her third year of studies at Hillsdale College in Michigan, majoring in Mathematics and Chemistry.
Jenna McCulloch (2006) is a senior at USF, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. She recently took first place in the Undergraduate Research Symposium with the 2008 presidential election being her topic.
Melanie Ratcliff (2006) finished her third year at Ringling, majoring in Photography and minoring in Fine Arts. She plans to travel to India this summer.
Adrian Errico (2007) is a sophomore, majoring in Art Studio at USF. Writing music in her free time, Adrian is thinking of pursuing her graduate work abroad, either in France or Spain.
Brendan Collett (2007) will start his junior year at USF in the Fall, where he is a member of the Honors College. Majoring in Psychology and Journalism, Brendan is also Business Director of WBUL 1620AM and has his own radio show "Fresh Bull."
Matthew Gil (2007) has transferred to UCF to study Journalism.
John Kluwin (2007) plans to get his degree in Economics at Rollins College this fall, then enter their Crum Business School for his Masters.
Andrea Williams (2007) is majoring in Economics and Environmental Engineering at Bard College. She is working on an environmental farm this summer.
Tedder Bridges (2008) is finishing his first year at Florida State University and has secured his real estate license.
