Campus
Opened in 1983, half hidden beneath a canopy of trees, Lee Academy resembles a beautiful rustic summer camp, situated on three acres of wooded lakefront property. Here, a wooden veranda, gazebo and pergola overlook shimmering Twin Lake, inviting investigation by inquiring young minds. Largo, a friendly black Lab and school mascot, freely roams the freshly mulched playground in search of scattering peacocks that also call Lee Academy home. The campus includes a science lab, computer lab, art studio, outdoor theater, playground and a series of non-institutional classrooms for the many subjects and electives offered. In the back of the school, a garden grows fruits and vegetables taken care of by the students. In 2012, Lee Academy won a Splash grant from the Southwest Florida Water Management District to enable this special project. The expansive outdoor wooden stage welcomes a large audience for school-wide celebrations, such as the annual winter performance and the spring Night of the Arts.
